Handheld Data Capture
Increase
productivity by capturing asset data on the move
Mobile computing
has in recent years opened up the boundaries on how an orgnaization
can capture data. The leaps in technology now allow sytems to be intergrated
with handheld computers to track assets either by manually entering
each asset into an electronic data capture form or by tagging assets.
With more advanced systems assets can now be tagged electronically
to allow
there
locational
details
to be tracked within an asset tracking system.
One of the most common
ways to capture data is to enter each asset paying attention to location
and possibly even condition and then docking the handheld unit with
the main computer console. This captured data can then be uploaded
into the users main asset tracking system to keep the data right up
to date. With the need now to keep an even closer eye on the orgnizations
assets some systems also support an electronic tagging system which
is similar to asset bar coding, allowing a unique identifier to be
placed on each asset to identify it within the system.
